So uh... those are unequal length, right?

If only, these are nameless el headers. We will see how well the unequal ones will do. Probably 15 to 20 hp max.

It was a stock FRS/BRZ engine. So no forced induction and only a 2 liter.

Call me a killjoy but that sounds a little unrealistic to me. On an engine that's already nearing 100bhp/l, I can't see there being 25hp worth of restriction in the headers.

The numbers may have been massaged a little. Something along the lines of 'with all our other performance goodies attached, the stock headers were 25hp down on our ones'.

Could always be completely wrong though :) a dyno run before and after, from an independent person, could have me eating my words

OH hell yeah it is!! Although, one of them did show some crazy number. . . so I bought that one. 14hp gain up top, kind of like this one!

Well it isn't 25hp at the top. It is somewhere in the middle. Here is an independent test of the same header . He made even MOAR power!

Neat :) clearly aftermarket tuners are much cleverer than I though

Ugh. I promised myself I wouldn't void the warranty on my BRZ... I already scraped up the front bumper and had it repainted, may as well void the warranty for this awesomeness. Though I'm definitely going UEL...

Go and get some JDL UEL headers! Definitely the best performing ones. They are on sale right now for 850 bucks. I don't know if they still have the 75 dollar off code still, but I got mine for 800 bucks, which is not to bad for something that has the best build quality, performance and sound!

That's a lot cheaper than I thought... How difficult was the install? Looks pretty simple... Keep in mind I've built engines and nearly torn my entire GTI apart and put it back together, so my only real concern is how awful is the stupid undertray to remove?

Now I have never worked on a car, and this took me about 20 to 30 minutes. The overpipe took longer!!! You should have no problem at all. You will love them! They sound fantastic!

That sounds very easy, sweet! How noticeable was the power gain? I assume it filled the torque dip nicely even without a tune.

That's not the stock catback is it? I plan on keeping the stock catback since it's barely a restriction. I just want a bit more noise, I'm trying to keep this car quiet, lol.

This isn't the stock catback, it is a Perrin Catback. It keeps the car nice and quiet, when not WOT. I got mine used for about 500 bucks, see if you can do the same! Really helps the tone, plus the stock exhaust likes to rasp when you add more parts too it!

As for power, I only drove it for 100 miles, and I honestly don't know. I can tell you, without a tune, you won't see a big increase power. W ith a stock exhaust though and these headers you should make around 15 more hp with a tune! With a frontpipe and overpipe you could see 20hp+!

Kinja'd!!! DocWalt > YSI-what can brown do for you

Hmm.... I think I'll just have to get a tune and really void the warranty. Unsure if I want to do that, but I've heard that most tunes fix the going lean and knocking after a shift issue, and I'd like to keep my DI seals intact, heh.

Kinja'd!!!0

Funny how that works right? Void the warranty and keep the engine safe, or keep the warranty and let the engine run lean. . .

You could run OpenFlash Tablet. It lets you go back to stock without any trace of a tune! Plus it is only 500 bucks, and it comes with UEL, EL, E85, 91, 93 octane tunes. Basically, it is an off the shelf tune that will work really well with your car.

Kinja'd!!! DocWalt > YSI-what can brown do for you

Kinja'd!!!0

Does the OFT really let you go back with no trace of a tune? I was under the impression that it set a flag when you loaded a non factory tune?

If it really doesn't leave a trace, I'll definitely have to pick it up.

Well it does do that, but it doesn't have a license like ECUtek, so the dealer can't find it as easily. It is a lot cheaper than ECUtek as well. Unless you are doing FI, ECUtek may be a bit of overkill.

I'd love to go with a supercharger down the road... That's a ways off, I have the GTI to finish prepping for autocross before I spend more money on the BRZ. Thanks for all of your input!
